This morning the plant science and natural resources students got to go on a little field trip to one of Josh Stelling's fields. They met with him, Holty County Extension Educator Amy Timmerman, Groundwater Management Area Specialist Connor Baldwin, and Bazile Groundwater Management Area Project Coordinator Lisa Lauver. They learned how Josh has used a method this year called 'Planting Green' where you plant corn or soybeans directly into a living cover crop. They learned a lot about the importance of soil health, how healthy soil has a higher water holding capacity, helps filter fertilizers out before it enters the groundwater, increases soil microorganisms, water filtration rate, and much more. It was a great morning and the students learned a lot about the importance of healthy soil and water quality!

The JrH and HS Track Teams are headed to Atkinson for the Stuart Track Invite!! The Meet will begin at 9:30 with Field Events, 10:00 3200 Meter Girls/Boys and then 11:30 for the rest of the running events. The Schedule has been shared on the Summerland Track and Field Facebook Page as well as the Summerland Bobcat Facebook Page!

The boys and girls basketball program is hosting a 2-day youth basketball camp for elementary boys and girls. Campers will be coached in skills and competitions, receive a Bobcat Basketball and awards for the camp will be given.
