Students had so much fun during author Kevin Lovegreen's visit to Summerland this afternoon. Kevin ended his presentation with The "World Famous" Animal Call Challenge. Kevin learned that these Nebraska students know their animal calls. If your child ordered a book from Kevin, it was sent home with them today. You are still able to order books from Kevin's website:

Congratulations to our Summerland Elementary 6th Grade Band for being today's Bobcat Catch of the Day! They are nominated for their responsible and respectful behavior at last night's concert! Not only did they give a strong performance, but they were respectful audience members while other students performed.

This week's Keep the Quote winner is kindergartener, Millie!
Millie consistently goes out of her way to help others, always aware of who might be struggling and offering support without being asked. Some examples include pointing to the correct page in a story, kindly restating directions to those who might not have understood, celebrating others' success - the list goes on!
Her actions come from a genuine kindness, never seeking recognition or reward. She is a true friend to all - compassionate, dependable, and always there when someone needs a hand.

Courtney Nelson from NECC spent the day in the Ag Room teaching the kids more about precision agriculture. The high school classes created a path for a drone using block coding and then got to test it in the wrestling room. The 8th grade ag class learned about grid soil sampling. They also learned how you can use the information from soil sampling to save water and use less resources using variable rate application. Thank you Courtney and NECC for a fun day!
